Chris Gloria here. It's been a while since I met with the group, and unfortunately, family and personal obligations got in the way of my ability to meet with the group after about 2 years ago or so. However, with my most recent job, I can finally get to work on getting my Miata looking the way she use to look years ago. Adding to the fact that I live in the north side of town now, it's made it considerably easier to meet with you guys, so I'll be happy to meet up with you all again soon enough.
I suppose info on my Miata is in order (Especially since I didn't really have much to explain about her back when I first joined anyway). My Miata is a Red 91, named Mia (Well before a certain Pixar movie had a similarly named Miata). I grew a bit of interest in Miatas after playing an arcade game called "Initial D" at Ingram Park Mall back in 2002. I first grew fond of the NB model, playing the game very well with it, but after a while, I discovered the NA Miata. The flip-up round headlights were perhaps the biggest draw to me, and adding to the fact that it was in 2 episodes of the japanese animation (Anime) the game was based off of (Said episodes viewed here if any of you are honestly curious: http://www4.funimation.com/video/?page=video&v=4777 ), I was pretty much dead set on getting a Miata.
Searching around the south side of town (Which I was initially from), I found a 90 model, and despite being in top shape, the shifter refused to work. I was majorly dissapointed, as I was dead set on the car. But I decided to look around a bit more, where eventually I found her, paint slightly faded and seats in somewhat decent shape. The body and seats didn't matter to me, as the engine was still in great shape. Fellow relatives tried to persuade me to find one in better shape, but I was pretty persistant in the end (That and I have a soft spot for cars that look like they've been through a lot and need someone good to take care of them).
Me and Mia have been through a lot in five years, and some of those better and more relaxing times were with this group, which is why I wanted to come back. There's been hiccups in the road here and there, such as alternator belts breaking, radiator and water pump problems, clutch giving out, minor oil leaks, among other things, but we've pulled through many tests in the end, and I'm not about to let her go for anything. =)
... I hope that was enough info and history right there cause that's all I got. lol. Either way, good to see you all again :P
(Check my profile for pic in case you need a reminder of who I am)
