Alright folks, the 9th of April is just around the corner!

I have checked (and rechecked) the route to the Alamo Village in Bracketville. Members of the Tumbleweed Club are joining us for the run. And the majority (that took the time to vote) have spoken: not only will there be a tour, but a gun-fight as well.

That being said, I am looking for a (fairly) firm headcount so I can notify (warn) the fine folks at the Alamo Village to (a) ensure we get the discounted price and (b) get our photo-op inside the Alamo compound.

With a group of 15+ bodies (not Miatae), cost will be $10/head plus lunch ($9/person max -- That's with the Root Beer Floats vice a "normal" beverage...)

I'll run a final tally from the responses about this time next week. I hope to hear from everyone!

Zoom-Zoom!

Hello Ibader,

Wife & I have been looking forword to come up there for our first run with the club. We are in the Rio Grande Valley approx. 4 hours south of SA. So we have to pick and choice what run to go to. The first one in April is a two day event. We didnt want to give up our whole weekend just yet. So we have been watching the calendar everyday for details on your's and the next week's event. Still no details, just the name of the event. This post of your's is the first of any kind of an ideal of what is going on with your run. Sound great, but could we get a little more info on it. What time do we start out. ( got to figure out, do we drive up the evening before(Friday) and motel it, or drive up early the day of). Approx when will the run be over with (what time back into SA). Got to decide if back late Saturday need to make arrangements to motel it Saturday night also, or if back early enough head back down home. Hope you understand all these questions, but being an out of towner club member we got to make alot more arrangements to be there.
Thanks in advance
Bob & Annie

Bob -

Thanks for reminding me of my over-sight. I'll get it corrected post-haste...

Until I can get word to Luther (our webmaster) here are the raw details:

- Meet at 0845 at the Sonic on 1604 & Culebra (FM-471)
- Depart at 0900, "Heading West..."
- Projected duration of the trip, (SATX to SATX) will be about 7 hours.

Cost is $10 per person, plus lunch. -- There is a cantina at the location that serves burgers, hot dogs, enchilladas, etc with the costliest plate running $6...

If you don't make it out to this run, I hope manage another run soon...

Cheers!

Ibader,

Thank you for the quick reply. You can count me and the better half in for sure. We will come up Friday night and stay in motel. Then meet up with you guys Saturday. Guess we will stay Saturday night also. Then head back Sunday. Hate to keep bothering you with questions, but would you know of a good motel or hotel near the Saturday meeting area. Wouldnt want to get lost and miss the whole run. LOL. Medium price would be cool if there is such a thing. lol
Thanks

Bob -

There is a Red Roof Inn on the 410 access road between Culebra and Ingram Roads. -- There is a Denny's and Krispy Kreme nearby and is about 15 minutes from the rally point.

There is also another "mid-grade" hotel (who's name escapes me at the moment" on the Northern corner of 410 & Route 151. -- There is a Chili's and Johnny Carino's next door for evening fare. The rally point is 10 minutes up 151 and a right onto 1604...

Otherwise, you would either be looking at a longer drive for similar pricing or a shorter drive for the Hyatt Hill Country resort...

Ibader,
Thanks for all the good info on the motels. Got online and found a really great rate at the "Red Roof Inn" $50.40 with a 10% discount for being old. . Going to stay two night so we can enjoy the run and not be worried about getting back home right after the run. Again thanks and really looking forword to see all the Club Members.
Thank
Bob & Annie

I thought the run was Saturday 9 April. I saw a post where someone said they'll be there Sunday. You'd miss the run if you show up Sunday...right Larry?
