O.K. Gang, we discussed this at the last meeting and I told you I'd send some email/internet information.

The track day we talked about is at the Texas World Speedway http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/index.php. It will be hosted by the TWS Motorsports Club http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/msc.htm. Please visit that link to print out the registration form here http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/mscmail.htm. I have cut and pasted the details from the website below. The event is $250.00 for both days. First timers will get classroom instruction and an in car instructor included. Also see the vehicle technical inspection form here http://www.texasworldspeedway.com/technicalinspectionform.html. This will need to be completed before heading to the track. Rohm and I will be happy to schedule a group Tech Inspection if enough of you are interested.

We always stay at the Motel 6 in College Station. It is relatively new and it is next door to our favorite Dairy Queen. The phone number is (979) 696-3379. We will be driving up Friday evening, July 8th. Another choice is the Manor House Inn, 800-231-4100 it is near the Motel 6. There are many other motel choices in College Station so feel free to stay where you want.

It you have any other questions or would like to let us know you will be attending just pop me an email.

This will be a great event and a lot of fun.

Zoom Zoom,

Jeff

TWS Motorsports Club Details

INTRODUCTION: The Texas World Speedway Motorsports Club is a driving club, not a racing club.
It was started in 1997, and was welcomed as an opportunity by those wishing to improve their driving skills, and those with little or no experience in driving on a race track. Itís purpose is to provide a fun opportunity to persons who take pride in their automobiles, to drive them on the TWS road courses, in a safe and responsible manner, free of highway traffic conditions.

Membership is made up of experienced and inexperienced drivers. Four different run groups are assigned by type of car and experience of driver. A driver attending for the first time will be given classroom instruction before taking to the track with an instructor. He or she will advance to ěsoloî, and a higher level run group when it is mutually determined by he or she, and the instructor. TWS reserves the right to remove anyone from the track if it is determined that they are racing or driving in any way that is unsafe to themself or to others.
The total number of members is restricted so as to allow sufficient track time.
All cars must pass technical inspection as to safety before they may be driven on the track.

All drivers must take a driving course, given at the track, and included in the cost, unless they can demonstrate sufficient driving skills by having a license with a race sanctioning body, before going on the track alone. Cars will be allowed on the track in groups according to car class and driver experience, so as to provide the safest possible conditions for all. TWS will provide an ambulance and safety crew at all times when cars are on the track. Safety rules and regulations will be provided and reviewed in detail during driver training courses.

TECHNICAL INSPECTION: All cars must be inspected for safety, including tires, seat belts, rear view mirrors, windshield wipers, windshields, and condition of vehicle (no oil burning or leaking). Drivers are responsible for their car inspection, and a form is supplied for this purpose. Convertibles must have a roll bar or cage which may be removable, but secured in place before being allowed on the track. All drivers must be over 18 years of age, have a valid state drivers license, and must wear a proper driver helmet (loaner helmuts are available at the track). Race driver suits and shoes are not mandatory. Gasoline will be available at the track for all events. No fuel (other than in the car) is to be transported onto TWS property for safety reasons.

TYPES OF CARS: Almost any make, model, or year, which can pass technical inspection as to safety requirements, is eligible.

TRACK TIME: Each run group will have driving sessions on the track four times per day. Extra track time, when available, will be allowed at no extra charge.

FUN TIME: All members are expected to be responsible, courteous, and display good sportsmanslike conduct toward fellow members at all times in order to maximize the fun and enjoyment of themselves and others. The TWS concession stand will be open on all event days for breakfast and lunch, and a Bar BQ dinner will be held in the new racers pavillion, at a reasonable cost, after the driving sessions end on Saturday so that members may get acquainted and share experiences.

Miata Nuts,

I just spoke with Jack Turner at TWS to clarify a few things for the upcoming Mazda Track Day on July 10th and 11th. Drivers in the Green group (beginners) will not be required to have a roll bar in your Miata.

Being the great guy that he is, he also offered a $25.00 discount for any driver registering by identifying themselves as being from the Bluebonnet Miata Club from San Antonio. Just indicate this on the entry form you print from the website and include your payment for $225.00 instead of $250.00. If you can't make it for both days you can register for one day for $150.00.

If you have any further questions please email me. Also, don't wait too long to make those hotel reservations.

The "Jeff and Rohm Show" is off to NPR http://www.noproblemraceway.com/ in Louisiana for a Wheels America Spec Miata Road Race Series http://www.specmiataracing.net/ event this weekend. It is our first time racing there so wish us luck. We'd really like to have a good couple of finishes to help us out on the seasons points.
