There is going to be a Drivers Edge event at Texas World Speedway in College Station, TX on October 22nd and 23rd. More info here:

I was wondering if anyone else had any interest in attending this event?
I have participated in many trackdays at Texas World Speedway when I rode motorcycles. This would be my inaugural event in a Miata.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info. I'm very interested in attending this program. And since my b-day is around that time, I'm sure I can convince the Mrs. to let me go. :)
I do have a bit of work to do to the car before then, but I'm sure I can get it done.

Driver's Edge puts on a very good event. Several from the club participated in a Driver's Edge event a couple of years ago. You might also check out TWS's own Motorsports Club. They have two more track days scheduled before the end of the year. September 17-18 and December 17-18.
Six of us from the club just did the July TWS Motorsports Club event. We had a great time and you can check out Neil's article in the past club newsletter.
Hope this helps,
Jeff

Is one event better than the other? (TWS Motorsports Club vs Driversedge.net).

Track time is probably about the same for both with maybe a little more with TWS. TWS MS Club is probably a little more laid back. Driver's Edge is a little more formal. Probably not enough of a difference to matter. Cost for TWS is $250 and Driver's Edge is $275.
It's probably best to just pick the event that works out best for your schedule.
I jumped on Driver's Edge website to research cost and was happy to see a picture of my Spec Miata the bottom of the PHOTOS page (http://www.thedriversedge.net/04_photo.htm). It always looks good to be in front of a Porsche

The recent TWS event was great. I liked the fact that the trainers were available to help but that they would let you find your comfort level. If you wanted them to ride with you every track session to coach they would. I have not been to a Driver's Edge event to compare but the TWS would be hard to beat.

Do I assume that most people drive thier Miata's to these events?
Just wondering because it was unheard of to drive your motorycle to the track for a track day.:^)

I guess most of us are uncool. We usually drive to the event. If Jeff has a spec miata event or needs that car at the track he will trailer it. At TWS we had a caravan of about 5-6 cars plus Jeff and his trailer. Again, with the exception of the spec miatas, 97% of the cars at this event are probably daily drivers.

Lil Red, when are we going to see you and Joe at the track with that Shinsen?
Don't I have to get a navy blue roll bar first?
Now I have seriously considered heading to an Autocross event and running her. Just to see what she can do (or what I can handle). :lmao:
You should ABSOLUTELY go to an autox event. Check out www.sasportscar.com.
It is a blast and there is no pressure at all. In fact, I even have a helmet that you can us (I have three now, one is a small and two that are large).
I'm hoping to make it to the September outing...the new car should be sorted out by then.

I am hoping to make it in September as well. I checked out SASCA earlier today and it looks like they have moved them up in the month. If so, I may actually be able to leave work long enough to make it. We all went out a few months ago and got to go on a ride along with Jimbo. Too fun!!!
We are working on getting a friends helmet as his wife no longer uses it. It fits perfect  . If I don't get it, I just might take you up on your offer to use one of yours.
Thanks for offering.
Virginia
No problem!!!
The same goes for anyone else reading this. Autox is a great way to test the limits of your car without risking life and limb (yours or others on the street). Anyone is more than welcome to attend and most folks don't mind giving ride-a-longs. In fact, my first experience with autox was in Ed Harloe's Miata...he is a great driver and you really have to see him in action. I've also had a ride a few other Miatas and one S2000 (can you say 9K rpms? ).
I'm sure we can discuss more at the meeting, but lets think about getting a group together for the September autox.
