Rohm and I got back to San Antonio at 1:00 A.M. this morning from Hallett OK. It was a great weekend for racing and the weather was perfect. The track at Hallett is very fun, very non-forgiving at times, and very technical. You can check out some aerial shots on their website at http://www.hallettracing.com/ .
We had an open test day on Friday and drove 7 - 25 minute sessions. That finished two of my tires right there. I was able to drop 2 seconds off my best time from last year.
For Saturday qualifying I was a little slower than on Friday and I qualified 12th out of 35. I raced up to an 8th place finish . Having a top ten finish against these guys was a pretty big accomplishment. The guys behind me were putting the heat on the last 10 minutes of the race. I was glad to keep my concentration and hold things together. My reward for a top ten was a CPU swap among the top ten cars. Everyone got someone elses computer. This was an attempt to make sure that nobody has been doing any funny business with their computers.
Sunday I was driving the same times but some of the guys got a little faster. I qualified 18th out of 35 and was able to race up to 15th. The racing action was more one-on-one on Sunday with me dicing with just a couple of other guys. I should have some good video to share if anyone is intrested.
Next up, I'm doing some instructing for the SCCA Corner Worker School at TWS in College Station in two weeks and then Rohm and I have a N.A.S.A. Race weekend at TWS in College Station the last weekend in September. We'll miss the event in Louisiana and then we race at TMS in Fort Worth at the end of October. We finish out the year with the 6 hour endurance race at TWS in College Station the weekend before Thanksgiving.
I'll be sharing driving duties in my car with my friend Frank Liberato from Corpus Christi. We'll be running a two driver strategy this year and trying really hard for a podium finish within our class. It will be tough against the more experienced teams but with a well prepared car, strong but safe driving and an excellent crew  like last year , we might be able to pull it off.
That's all for now. I need to go to sleep..........
