BRIEFING: 4:45 PM
DEPART: 5:00 PM
Run Leader: George Briscoe (210) 269-6410 briscoeg@mac.com
Eat beforehand and/or bring your food with you. There will not be a dinner stop. There will be two rest breaks at gas stations in Lake Hills and Center Point.
BRING YOUR OWN WATER/beverages.
There are NO concessions or even a water fountain at the Old Tunnel Wildlife Management Area. Just an outhouse.
No alcohol allowed at the State Park run tunnel. There will be time for that in Luckenbach afterwards.
Don't forget your cameras (binoculars are handy for bat viewing, if you have them).
Approximate drive length: 116 miles to the Old Tunnel, 125 to Luckenbach. 55 miles back to the UTSA/Fiesta Texas part of S.A. We'll be going through Rio Medina, by Medina Lake, across Park Road 37 (yay!), through Bandera, Medina, Camp Verde, Center Point, Comfort and then up the Old No. 9 road to the tunnel.
As of Sunday, the bats have started to emerge at sunset, so it looks like we might actually get a chance to see them!
